Capsule Movie Review: Manjhi-The Mountain Man

A classic of its Genre, Manjhi-The Mountain Man is amongst those biopics that deliver more than expectations.

This biopic is much more than about a man who carved a way through the Mountain in Gaya district, Bihar. It is no less than an ingenious thread perfectly weaving all thought-provoking core concerns still prevailing in India encompassing ruthless caste system, corrupted politics of Independent India, and Irony of Human life.

Dashrath Manjhi, a lower-class man, runs away in his childhood to escape the cruel behaviour of upper caste ‘Mukhiya’. He returns to his village after 7 years and gets married. Dashrath is so in awe of his wife. On one unfortunate day, his wife loses her balance and falls off Mountain. This marks the turning point in the plot where Dashrath challenges the Mountain’s Arrogance by taking an oath to carve a path through it.

Inspired by a real story of sheer willpower, it took 22 years of blood-hard-toil for Manjhi to carve a path through the Mountain that too single-handedly by merely using hammer and chisel.

This inspirational tale speaks volume of miracles that can only blossom under the soil of unfailing faith. It is nothing but a faith that can transform a common man into a strong-willed human power. It is nothing but the power of true love that can even make the Mountain Move.

Nine out of ten stars: Watch this movie to learn about a living legend of willpower: Manjhi-The Mountain Man and of course for the speechless acting of Nawazuddin and Radhika Apte.

A Must Watch for realistic and meaningful Cinema Lovers!
