World Mental Health Day is marked on the 10th of October every year by the World Health Organization (WHO). It was initiated on 10th October 1992 for the first time as an annual activity of the World Federation by Deputy Secretary-General Richard Hunter for mental health.
Mental Health has become a major concern. According to WHO every year 3 million people die from the harmful use of alcohol and every 40 seconds one person dies by suicide. This special day motivates people to openly discuss their mental health problems and also focuses on what more needs to be done to solve mental health issues in a better way.
