7 principles of success by Steve Jobs

The million-dollar question is that all the modern coaches are sharing their secret hacks, success blueprints, tips, and strategies but as they say “Old is Gold”, we cannot underestimate the success principles shared by Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs. His innovations have touched almost all aspects of our lives— Right from computers to music to mobile to movies and whatnot. As a Brand Copywriter and Copywriting Coach with an entrepreneurial mindset, I continue to learn a lot from him.

These are the principles that anyone can use to “think differently” when it comes to offering the best versions of their service, product or brand.

Principle One: Do what you love

“People with passion can change the world for the better.” And that’s what makes Steve Jobs legendary. He did choose to pursue his passion and made a lasting difference. To come up with ‘out of the box’ creative ideas, you need to have a passion.

Principle Two: Put a dent in the universe

It is the Passion that fuels the rocket, but it is the vision that directs the rocket to its ultimate destination. In 1976, when Steve Jobs co-founded Apple with Wozniak, he had a clear vision of making the computer a part of the lifestyles of everyday people. When he saw an early and crude graphical UI being demonstrated at the Xerox research facility in California, he knew that this is the technology he is in the quest for. That technology became The Macintosh and changed everything about the way we interact with computers.

Principle Three: Kickstart your brain

He once quoted aptly, “Creativity is connecting things.” By connecting things he meant seeking inspiration from other industries as well. He found inspiration from Zen meditation, a food processor at Macy’s, Indian spirituality, The Four Seasons hotel chain and beyond to inspire his creativity.

Principle Four: Sell dreams, not products

To Steve Jobs, people who buy Apple products are the people with dreams, hopes, and ambitions. He along with his team continues to build products that help people achieve their dreams. He once quoted, “some people think you’ve got to be crazy to buy a Mac, but in that craziness we see genius.” So when you create a client avatar, you need to think about how can you win over their minds and hearts rather than focusing on selling your products.

Principle Five: Say no to 1,000 things

Steve Jobs once quoted, “I’m as proud of what we don’t do as I am of what we do.” His sheer commitment to building products with uncluttered and simple designs yet optimal functionality is what makes Apple stay ahead in the industry.

Principle Six: Create insanely great experiences

The Apple store is touted as the world’s best retailer by introducing simple innovations to strike instant emotional connections with customers. There are consultants, experts and geniuses but no cashiers because the focus is on enriching the lives of the people not simply making money.

Principle Seven: Master the message

Steve Jobs is the world’s greatest corporate visionary and storyteller who mastered the art of turning product launches. So with a “Larger than life” vision, you also need to have an entrepreneurial mindset because if you cannot get people excited about the product, it doesn’t matter how brilliant your offerings are, be it products or services.

That’s all. Here are Seven Principles by Steve Jobs.

So “Stay hungry. Stay foolish” and implement these 7 Principles to optimize your career or business success.
